Back in 1967 when I bought my very first two albums,Johnny Colon's 'Boogaloo Blues' & 'El Malo' by Willie & Hector,I was hooked for life,with the unrestrained/powerfully virile,uniquely urban latino music coming from my small suitcase record player.What Willie & Hector,along with Eddie Palmieri,& the entire Fania family did to highten & further develope, 'Cuban Son/Mambo',into the 'Salsa'phenomenon that shook the world is the core that legends are made of.Que viva la musica.
