I saw 'El Cantante' for the first time a couple weeks ago. I'm so glad I watched the end credits, because I had never heard 'Periodico De Ayer' and now I'm obsessed with the song! I watch the end credits over and over just to hear it. I went to YouTube and I love the 1978 performance-the video isn't all that, but Hector Lavoe's voice and the piano and the bass are AWESOME, I'm listening to it as I'm typing this now-Hector Lavoe's voice was(and is) so beautiful, God truly blessed him- he truly had 'la voz.' He could have sung the alphabet and it would have gone gold! I can't answer who is the better singer, because Hector Lavoe and Marc Anthony are like apples and oranges-they both go great in salad!...
