Hector is one of the best singers I have ever heard. Unfortunately when he was a alive I wasn't a fan but after watching the movie about his tragic life I heard his songs and became enamored of his musical style. What strikes me most is his unsurpassed ability at improvisation. I have never heard another singer that could compare when it comes to this.

Yo considero que hevtor era una convinacion de voz, talento de soneo mas grande que a existido e inspiracion al cantar. Lo mejor de lo mejor. La juventud debe observar que ese talento fue corado por el uso de las drogas. A lo mejor todavia estuviera dandonos ese regalo de Dios que era su voz.

i was born in ponce puerto rico,all my life i being lisining to salsa music...but went i came to new york in late 80's that was went everithing change for me a meet hector lavoe in what was call back then 'casa borinquen'....nunca se me holvidad ver a the man hinself with a yeso puesto in one of his legs...for me hector lavoe was the voice of the caserios and barriadas pobres de puerto rico lots af can relate to him i am one of then,,el caballo sin jockey; el flaco,,el cantante de los cantantes.. y rey de la puntualidad..ect... with my wife being from ponce i am now one of hector's biggest fans. we plan on visiting his old neighborhood on our next visit.there is such an auora and magical feeling about his music and wonderful but tragic life. he is truely a legend
